The members and advisors of 13L wish Jeri good luck in her new position. We have enjoyed working with Jeri over the past year, and we are quite proud that Jeri is 13L's first official alumnus!

- Quarterly Business Meeting. Members and advisors of 13L will meet on January 23 to formulate plans for partnering with other good government organizations in carrying out the group's goal of promoting effective leadership in the federal government. John Palguta, Vice President for Policy at the Partnership for Public Service, will be the guest speaker at this quarterly meeting. Thanks to John for his continued commitment to revitalizing public service.
- Viewpoint on Leadership. In this month's Viewpoints column, member Scott Derrick discusses the limitless number of definitions for the concept of leadership. Scott sees eye to eye with Professor Peter Northouse as spelled out in his book Leadership: Theory and Practice -- four components are key to the definition of leadership. Any guesses on the four? Check it out here.
- GovLeaders.org Highlights Information on Motivating Employees. 13L member Don Jacobson has posted some interesting articles about motivation on the always useful GovLeaders.org site. Don points out that a supervisor's two most important functions are to develop and motivate his/her employees. Check out the articles here.
